non-specific protein-tyrosine kinase

non-specific protein-tyrosine kinase
non-spe·cif·ic pro·tein-ty·ro·sine ki·nase (non″spə-sifґik proґtēn tiґro-sēn kiґnās) [EC 2.7.10.2] a group comprising those protein-tyrosine kinases that lack a transmembrane domain. They are further divided into families (e.g., JAK kinases), which differ structurally but which are involved in signaling pathways important in processes such as cell growth, differentiation, and adhesion, in lymphocyte activation, and in oncogenesis. Cf. receptor protein-tyrosine kinase.
