substantia perforata anterior
[TA] anterior perforated substance: an area on the base of the brain anterior to each optic tract and lateral to the optic chiasm, containing numerous perforations through which small branches of the anterior and middle cerebral arteries are transmitted to deeper structures. Called also olfactory area, s. perforata rostralis [TA alternative], and rostral perforated substance.
