a syndrome of sudden myoclonic jerks, occurring particularly in the morning or under conditions of stress or fatigue; seen primarily in children and adolescents. Occasionally the jerks may progress to generalized tonic-clonic seizures, but there is no mental deterioration. Called also Janz syndrome.
