- Lamina
- A plate or layer. For example, the lamina arcus vertebrae, usually just called the lamina, are plates of bone in each vertebral body.

It is composed of a 20–100 nm network of file filaments called the l. densa which appears dense in the electron microscope, and on either side of this layer is a less dense layer called the l. rarae; SEE ALSO: basement membrane, l. densa. 2.
