Glyoxalase I; a lyase cleaving S-d-lactoylglutathione to glutathione and methylglyoxal. SYN: aldoketomutase, ketone-aldehyde mutase, methylglyoxalase.

lac·to·yl·glu·ta·thi·one ly·ase (lak″to-əl-gloo″tə-thiґōn liґās) [EC 4.4.1.5] an enzyme of the lyase class that catalyzes the condensation of methylglyoxal and glutathione to form lactoylglutathione as a step in the conversion of methylglyoxal to lactic acid. See also glyoxalase.
