alpha hemolysin
1. a hemolysin producing alpha hemolysis. 2. the hemolysin of the alpha toxin of Staphylococcus aureus, which hemolyzes rabbit, sheep, cow, and goat but not human erythrocytes. See also staphylococcal toxin, under toxin.
