[glycogen-synthase-D] phosphatase

[glycogen-synthase-D] phosphatase
[gly·co·gen-syn·thase-D] phos·pha·tase (gliґko-jən sinґthās fosґfə-tās) [EC 3.1.3.42] an enzyme of the hydrolase class that catalyzes the cleavage of a phosphoryl group from (inactive) glycogen synthase b to form (active) glycogen synthase a; the reaction is part of the mechanism of regulation of glycogen metabolism. This enzyme is considered to be an activity of the more general enzyme protein phosphatase 1 (q.v.).
