protein phosphatase 1

protein phosphatase 1
a specific phosphoprotein phosphatase (q.v.) that catalyzes the dephosphorylation of several enzymes involved in the regulation of glycogen metabolism: phosphorylase kinase, glycogen phosphorylase a, and glycogen synthase b. The enzyme activity encompasses activities formerly assigned to the individual enzymes [phosphorylase] phosphatase and [glycogen-synthase-D] phosphatase.
