glutamate–cysteine ligase
glu·ta·mate–cys·te·ine li·gase (glooґtə-māt sisґte-ēn liґgās) [EC 6.3.2.2] an enzyme of the ligase class that catalyzes the ATP-dependent formation of a peptide bond between the γ-carboxyl group of glutamate and the amino group of cysteine to form γ-glutamylcysteine as a step in the synthesis of glutathione.
