- glu·ta·mate–am·mo·nia li·gase (glooґtə-māt ə-mōnґyə liґgās) [EC 6.3.1.2] an enzyme of the ligase class that catalyzes the ATP-dependent amination of glutamate by ammonium ions to form glutamine. Called also glutamine synthetase.
