scala ves·tib·u·li -ve-'stib-yə-.lī n, pl scalae ves·tib·u·lo·rum -ve-.stib-yə-'lō-rəm the lymph-filled spirally arranged canal in the bony canal of the cochlea that is separated from the scala media below by the vestibular membrane, is connected with the oval window, and receives vibrations from the stapes

[TA] the perilymph-filled part of the cochlea that begins in the vestibule, is separated from other cochlear structures by the spiral lamina and Reissner membrane of the cochlear duct, and becomes continuous with the scala tympani at the helicotrema. Called also vestibular canal.
