pa·ram·phi·stome (pə-ramґfĭ-stōm) any member of the family Paramphistomatidae, pear-shaped trematodes that have the sucker near the posterior end and infest the intestines of ruminants and occasionally other mammals, causing paramphistomiasis. See also ruminal fluke. Called also amphistome and conical fluke.
