1. an often fatal condition seen in cows and sheep in the first few weeks after lactation has begun, when they are turned out into lush pastures, due to deficiency of magnesium in the diet. Symptoms include muscular spasms and convulsions. Called also grass staggers and grass or hypomagnesemic t. 2. puerperal t.
