chronic leukemia of the myelogenous type, occurring mainly between the ages of 25 and 60 years, usually associated with a Philadelphia chromosome. The major clinical manifestations of malaise, hepatosplenomegaly, anemia, and leukocytosis are related to abnormal, excessive, unrestrained overgrowth of granulocytes in the bone marrow. Called also chronic myelocytic l., and chronic myeloid l.
