Arneth Joseph (1873-1955)
German physician. Arneth specialized in hematology and wrote several studies of diseases of the blood. He introduced the Arneth index in 1904 and advocated its use as a valuable aid in determining the reaction of bone marrow to infectious agents.

a calculation formerly much used in reference to the Arneth count of lobes of neutrophil nuclei; in a normal population the percentages with one or two lobes plus half the percentage with three lobes should total 60 per cent.
