[USP] a volatile oil derived from sinigrin, which is found in the seeds of black mustard and horseradish; used as a counterirritant in ointments and plasters, in the preparation of flavors, and in the manufacture of war gas. It can cause fatal gastroenteritis in animals consuming the plants.
