A urinary pigment that gives a pink color to deposits of urates; presumably derived from melanin. SYN: purpurin (1), urerythrin.

uro·er·y·thrin (u″ro-erґĭ-thrin) [uro- + Gr. erythros red] a dark reddish coloring matter found in the urine, giving it the red color seen in deposits of urates. Called also purpurin.
