Mucorales

An order of the fungal class Zygomycetes that contains all the species causing mucormycosis in humans. The genera include Cunninghamella, Rhizopus, Absidia, Rhlizomucor, Mucor, Apophysomyces, Saksenaea, Syncepthalastrum, and Cokeromyces. Mortierella species are included but are of doubtful pathogenicity for humans.

Mu·co·ra·les (mu″kə-raґlēz) an order of perfect fungi of the class Zygomycetes made up of bread molds and related fungi, the majority of which are saprobes; pathogenic species are included in the families Cunninghamellaceae, Mortierellaceae, Mucoraceae, and Saksenaeaceae and cause mainly opportunistic infections such as mucormycosis.
