A family of Fungi Imperfecti (order Moniliales) which includes Sporothrix schenckii, the causative agent of sporotrichosis.

Mo·nil·i·a·ceae (mo-nil″e-aґse-e) in some systems of classification, a form-family of colorless or light-colored Fungi Imperfecti of the form-order Moniliales; genera of medical importance include Acremonium, Aspergillus, Beauveria, Blastomyces, Botrytis, Coccidioides, Epidermophyton, Fusarium, Histoplasma, Paecilomyces, Paracoccidioides, Penicillium, Scedosporium, Sporothrix, Trichoderma, Trichophyton, Trichothecium, and Verticillium.
