valvula venae cavae inferioris
[TA] valve of inferior vena cava: the variably sized crescentic fold of endocardial tissue, enclosing a few muscle fibers, that is attached to the anterior margin of the opening of the inferior vena cava into the right atrium of the heart. Rudimentary in the adult, in the fetus it directs blood flow from the inferior vena cava into the left atrium via the foramen ovale. Called also caval or eustachian valve and valve of Sylvius.
