thiamine pyridinylase
thi·a·mine pyr·i·din·yl·ase (thiґə-min pir-ĭ-dinґə-lās) [EC 2.5.1.2] an enzyme of the transferase class that catalyzes the transfer of the pyrimidine moiety of thiamine from the thiazole ring component to pyridine or another base or thiol compound. The reaction inactivates thiamine. The enzyme occurs in the gastrointestinal tract of many freshwater animals. Called also thiaminase I.
