- (for pheochromocytoma) one hour after injection of glucagon, base levels of norepinephrine are calculated and the patient is given clonidine; norepinephrine levels are determined over three hours to monitor for expected decreases. Patients with pheochromocytomas will not have normal decreases in norepinephrine.
