- [TA] stria of internal granular layer: a band of tangentially oriented white nerve fibers in the internal granular layer of the cerebral cortex. In the region of the calcarine sulcus, this stria is thick and highly visible and here is known as the line of Gennari (see also striate cortex, under cortex). Called also external band, line, stria, or stripe of Baillarger. See also s. laminae pyramidalis internae.
