stomatitis venenata: an allergic condition of the oral mucosa resulting from contact with a substance to which the patient is sensitized, including cosmetics, dentifrices, mouthwashes, and dental materials, as well as drugs applied topically; inflammation and edema of the mucosa accompanied by burning and sometimes itching are the principal symptoms. Called also contact s. See also s. medicamentosa.
