retinol O-fatty-acyltransferase
ret·i·nol O-fat·ty-ac·yl·trans·fer·ase (retґĭ-nol fatґe a″səl-transґfər-ās) [EC 2.3.1.76] an enzyme of the transferase class that catalyzes the esterification of retinol with long chain fatty acids (particularly palmitic acid) derived from acyl coenzyme A molecules; the reaction occurs in the intestinal mucosa, creating retinyl esters for transport and storage.
