cardiac remodeling
geometric and structural changes in heart chambers, usually ventricles, with decline in function that can lead to heart failure; the most common cause is cardiomyopathy, such as from the strain of hypertension or following myocardial infarction. Called also myocardial r. See also ventricular r.
