One of the multinucleated giant cells, identical with osteoclasts, that are associated with the resorption of cementum. [L. cementum, cement, + G. klastos, broken]

ce·men·to·clast (sə-menґto-klast″) [cemento- + -clast] a cell, cytomorphologically the same as an osteoclast, involved in cementum resorption; the cavities produced by resorption are known as resorption lacunae. Called also odontoclast.
