protein-tyrosine-phosphatase

protein-tyrosine-phosphatase
pro·tein-ty·ro·sine-phos·pha·tase (proґtēn tiґro-sēn fosґfə-tās) [EC 3.1.3.48] any of a group of enzymes of the hydrolase class that catalyze the removal of phosphate groups from tyrosine residues of proteins. The enzyme activity modulates that of the protein-tyrosine kinases and thus may decrease or inhibit cell growth and tumorigenesis.
