condensing osteitis

condensing osteitis
a focal inflammatory reaction of bone marked by the formation of radiopaque sclerotic lesions; it occurs in the jaw as a reaction to periapical infection (see focal sclerosing osteomyelitis, under osteomyelitis) and in the clavicle, ilium, or pubis, probably as the result of repeated mechanical stress.
