tubulointerstitial nephritis nephritis of the tubules and interstitial tissues of the kidney, usually seen secondary to a drug sensitization, systemic infection, graft rejection, or autoimmune disease; characteristics include lymphocytes in interstitial infiltrate and within tubules, mild hematuria, and pyuria.
