macrozamin

macrozamin
mac·ro·zam·in (mak″ro-zamґin) a toxic principle from the seeds and leaves of species of the zamia family of palms. In humans it is neoplastic to the liver, kidneys, intestine, and lungs after hydrolysis by intestinal bacteria and yields the breakdown product methylazoxymethanol; in cattle it causes gastrointestinal and liver damage that can be fatal.
