Cycas
Cy·cas (siґkəs) a genus of palms (family Palmae) found on Guam and other islands of the South Pacific. C. circinaґlis L. and C. revoluґtus Thumb. have seeds that were formerly used as part of the diet on Guam and contain toxic glycosides such as cycasin and macrozamin. Cattle and sheep consuming the seeds may suffer fatal gastrointestinal and liver damage or the neurological condition known as zamia staggers.
