- lupus erythematosus profundus
- a rare chronic form of cutaneous lupus erythematosus characterized by dermal and subcutaneous inflammatory involvement, with deep, firm nodules, often without surface change. The usual location is on the head, upper arms, chest, buttocks, or thighs, and there may be mild systemic involvement. Lesions heal and leave deeply depressed areas, and the typical lesions of discoid lupus erythematosus may also be present. Called also l. profundus and LE, lupus, or lupus erythematosus panniculitis.
