loss of heterozygosity
(LOH) loss of the allele from one chromosome of a pair, as by deletion, nondisjunction, mitotic recombination, or suppression of function, so that the locus is converted from heterozygosity to homozygosity or hemizygosity; it is often associated with tumorigenesis.
