- a serovar carried by rodents and causing human leptospirosis. Type A, found in Australia, the United States, Europe, Southeast Asia, and Japan, also causes infection in numerous other mammals. Type B, found in Australia, Southeast Asia, and Europe, is not known to cause infection in animals other than humans.
