- [TA] middle layer of thoracolumbar fascia: the middle of three layers of fascia covering the deep muscles in the lumbosacral region. It is attached above to the twelfth rib and lumbocostal ligament, medially to the transverse processes of the lumbar vertebrae and the intertransverse ligaments, and below to the iliac crest; gives origin to transversus abdominis; and helps to enclose erector spinae.
