lamina anterior fasciae thoracolumbalis
[TA] anterior layer of thoracolumbar fascia: the deepest of the three layers of fascia covering the deep muscles of the lumbosacral region; it is attached below to the iliolumbar ligament and adjoining iliac crest and medially to the transverse processes of the lumbar vertebrae, and above it forms the lateral arcuate ligament. It covers quadratus lumborum and is the origin of transversus abdominis. Called also l. profunda fasciae thoracolumbalis [TA alternative], fascia musculi quadrati lumborum [TA alternative], and quadratus lumborum fascia.
