McBurney incision

McBurney incision
an abdominal incision parallel to the fibers of the external oblique muscle, about one-third the distance along a line from the anterior superior iliac spine to the umbilicus, half the incision being above and the remainder below this point. The skin and subcutaneous fat are incised down to the external oblique muscle, the fibers of which are split; the underlying internal oblique and transversus abdominalis are then split and separated.
