eosinophilic gastroenteritis
a rare condition marked by infiltration of the mucosa of the small intestine and sometimes the stomach by eosinophils, with edema but without vasculitis, and usually with eosinophilia of the peripheral blood. Symptoms depend on the site and extent of disease, and include abdominal pain, diarrhea, nausea, fever, and malabsorption. The disorder is commonly associated with intolerance to specific foods.
