GABA transaminase
GABA trans·am·i·nase (gab″ə-trans-amґĭ-nās) 1. 4-aminobutyrate transaminase. 2. a renal transaminase that catalyzes the transfer of an amino group from γ-aminobutyrate (GABA) to pyruvate, forming alanine and succinate semialdehyde; the reaction may play a role in chloride permeability in the nephron.
