- fibromatous epulis 1. a fibroma arising from the alveolar periosteum and the periodontal ligament. 2. a benign fibromatous tumor arising in periodontal stroma on the gum of a dog, usually an older animal. Some breeds are more susceptible than others, suggesting a genetic component. Called also fibromatosis gingivae.
