- Mseleni joint disease
- a severe, progressive osteoarthropathy of unknown etiology, occurring in South Africa and seen predominantly in women. It begins in the hip joint, which is the most severely affected, and spreads to the knees and ankles and, less commonly, to the wrists, elbows, and shoulders. The ability to walk is severely compromised and is in some cases lost. Dwarfism occurs in some affected individuals.
