luteal phase defect

luteal phase defect
inadequate secretory transformation of the endometrium during the luteal phase of the menstrual cycle, often with low levels of progesterone during this phase. Causes include poor follicle production, premature demise of the corpus luteum, and failure of the uterine lining to respond to normal levels of progesterone. It can cause infertility and habitual abortion. Called also luteal phase deficiency.
