intrahepatic cholestasis of pregnancy
a type of intrahepatic cholestasis sometimes seen during the third trimester of pregnancy, characterized by severe itching, hepatomegaly, and sometimes jaundice; it clears up after delivery. It occurs more frequently in certain ethnic groups, indicating that there may be a genetic basis.
