1. a large polyhedral cell of connective tissue origin. 2. a type of highly phagocytic, modified macrophage, resembling an epithelial cell, having a large, pale, vesicular nucleus with abundant, eosinophilic cytoplasm. Epithelioid cells are characteristic of granulomatous inflammation, and sometimes coalesce to form multinucleate giant cells. 3. pinealocyte.
