spindle cell nevus

spindle cell nevus
spindle and epithelioid cell nevus, Spitz nevus a benign compound nevus usually seen in children before puberty, composed of spindle cells and epithelioid cells and presenting as a smooth to slightly scaly pink to red papule or nodule, often with surface telangiectasia. It is usually located in the dermis and is sometimes associated with large atypical cells and multinucleate cells. Because it has a close resemblance to malignant melanoma, it has sometimes been given the misnomers benign juvenile and juvenile melanoma.
