aldehyde-lyase

aldehyde-lyase
al·de·hyde-ly·ase (al″də-hīd-liґās) [EC 4.1.2] any member of a sub-subclass of enzymes of the lyase class that catalyze cleavage of a CC bond in a molecule containing a hydroxyl group and a carbonyl group to form two smaller molecules, each being an aldehyde or a ketone; chemically, it is the reverse of an aldol condensation. Called also aldolase.
