slow, paroxysmal, relatively constant delta activity seen on the electroencephalogram, associated frequently with metabolic disorders or diffuse encephalopathies and sometimes with subfrontal, deep midline, or posterior fossa lesions; it may be stronger occipitally in children and frontally in adults.
