practice nurse
a trained nurse caring for the patients of one or more general practitioners in the consulting room and on domiciliary consultations. In Britain, practice nurses are usually employed directly by GPs, who can claim reimbursement for some of their pay from the Health Authority. However, they may also be employed by community trusts as district nurse.
