frequency distribution

frequency distribution
(in statistics) presentation of the characteristics (variable) of a series of individuals (e.g. their heights, weights, or blood pressures) in tabular form or as a histogram (bar chart) so as to indicate the proportion of the series that have different measurements. In a normal or Gaussian distribution the number of readings and their range on either side of the mean value is symmetrical; in a skewed distribution (e.g. Poisson) the measurements are bunched on one side of the mean and spread out over a wider range on the other.
